Trading Spaces

Last weekend we decided to move everybody's room around. Rebekah moved into my room, and we both moved into Natalie's room, who moved into Emily's room where Rebekah used to stay. Needless, to say, this was not a easy process.

My room has never been this messy!

Moving the bookcase...(if you look close you can see me looking around the corner)

Emily and Natalie's room, in progress....... We had to pull almost everything out of the closets too. Notice the lovely mess.

Here is the room I share with Rebekah.... in progress!

Natalie, who helped every chance she got!

Half of the room Rebekah and I share.....

and the other half.

We were, thankfully, able to get everything moved by 8:00 p.m. Sunday night. And yes, we were tired. :-)~

New Dresses!!!

Lately I've been working on making Christmas dresses. So far I have Rebekah and Emily's done. I decided to the Girl's Regency Dress from Sense and Sensibility. It went together splendidly and I will definitely be using that pattern again!

Pieces.......

Seam ripping.......(I have gotten so good with my seam ripper, I could probably use it in my sleep!)

Sewing........

And the finished products!

And while we're at it, here is the picture of a dress I made me, inspired by the film Wives and Daughters. I used the Romantic Dress pattern, also available from Sense and Sensibility. The sleeves aren't actually as "balloon-y" as they appear, it's just the way I'm standing. I have taken them in as well, which has really helped reduce the size.

A Little Sister Follows Me.....

I discovered this poem several months ago. As the oldest of four sisters, this has blessed me (and taught me) a good deal.

A Little Sister Follows Me
author unknown
A careful girl I want to be;
A little sister follows me.
I do not dare to go astray
For fear she'll go the selfsame way.
I cannot once escape her eyes;
Whate'er she sees me do, she tries;
Like me she says she's going to be-
That little sister following me.
She thinks that I am good and fine;
Believes in every word of mine.
The bad in me she must not see-
That little sister following me.
I must remember as I go,
Through summer's sun and winters snow;
I'm building for the years to be
That little sister following me. ~
